Kettle Falls Historical Center

A visit to the "People of the Falls" Interpretative Exhibit Center is an opportunity to step back in time and experience the life styles of the Native Americans of the area -- one of the oldest in the Western World. Exhibit areas offer visitors the chance to learn what natives did each season of the year in a unique combination of murals and exhibits, as well as the influence the europeans had on the area.

The exhibt preserves and interprets the history and heritage of our area by providing education for school children and others through a traveling educational truck and guided tours. The Center also hosts public lectures and programs with speakers and authors, and supports and showcases local artists, authors, musicians and craft people. Art shows are held throughout the season, beginning on weekends in May with the High School Student Art and Writing Contest. During the month of June a Native American Artist Show is held, followed by a Community Art Show in July and the local Folk Fest on the 2nd Saturday of the month. The Northern Sky Art Show is held throuhout the month of August and "Celebration of Arts Day" is held on the 3rd Saturday of that month. The Center is funded by memberships, donations, and from sales in the "Shop at the Falls", a gift shop filled with locally made handifcrafts, books and paintings. Members hold an "Annual Old Fashioned Auction" of donated items in September to cover expenses during winter months when the center is closed.
